Uplift & Unite
2025 -NL #5
This is my first newsletter since I started my Substack publication United in Kindness. I’m an advocate for children, and I’m an author, but first, I’m a citizen of the United States. I’m saddened by our leadership and their decisions that impact people everywhere. What transpired yesterday in the Oval Office, with President Zelenskyy was heartbreaking, difficult to watch. I stand with Ukraine.
My voice has long since been rooted in writing, and now, as our country hurdles through a chaotic crisis, I write to speak my truth. I do this by sending notes/messages, and liking, commenting and restacking others’ posts.
I write two author newsletters per month. Including my previous three - Hope, Perseverance, Kindness - they all showcase a personal message about how these values impact me.
My title today is Uplift & Unite. I love uplifting people. I highlight authors in my newsletters, and I love helping new authors by paying it forward because of the authors who took me under their wing once upon a time.
Unite(d) is a powerful word, and to me it means joining together for a shared purpose and outcome. It means supporting our allies within and outside of our country. I advocate for what I value by writing emails to senators and representatives, signing petitions, educating myself, spreading news to family and friends, and using social media as a platform to speak up. Substack is a wonderful community that tends to align with people who honor my values, and I’m glad to share this space with you.
Today, I’m featuring Megan Byrd. “She lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband and two kids. She hates running, but loves hiking in the mountains toward a waterfall or scenic view and taking kickboxing, HIIT, yoga, and Zumba classes. When she’s not reading, writing, or chasing waterfalls, she enjoys visiting local bookstores, wandering through thrift shops in search of special gems, listening to live music, and catching up with friends.”
About Megan’s book:
WILL BLIND DATES LEAD TO DISASTER OR TRUE LOVE?
”The book club is taking over Anna’s dating life. After failing to find compatible men on dating apps or in person, the Book Babes are stepping in to find her true love. The book she picks each meeting determines her date and their activity. This method can’t be worse than her previous efforts, right?
Brody has pined after the sweet librarian from his corner cubicle for over a year. While he’s a whiz with words on paper, real-life interactions with attractive women trigger his anxiety. Can he figure out a way to reveal his feelings without tripping over his own tongue before Anna meets the man of her dreams via the Blind Date and a Book challenge?
Fans of You've Got Mail will enjoy this hidden identity, slow burn contemporary romance involving letter writing, lots of terrible dates, and a swoony happily ever after.”

Outstanding newsletter. Agree with you about the appalling behavior exhibited by our political leaders towards a foreign guest to our country. Children are watching and learning less than proper ways to treat others; however one may disagree with their views.
Keep up the good work, Michelle.
